The Soulstone Rush Tournament

Welcome to The Soulstone Rush tournament!  Hosted by the wonderful team at Board Bard Games, this tournament marks the grand finale of the Malifaux Escalation League that has been running the past few months. It’s a celebration of everyone who participated in the League, recognizing their dedication and growth throughout this exciting journey.

While the tournament is meant for the Malifaux Escalation League participants, it is open to the public, and the focus will be on fun and casual play, bringing together players of all skill levels. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or you just completed the Escalation League, this is the perfect way to meet the community and join in on the fun in the dark and twisted world of Malifaux.

So, gather your crew, bring your best strategies, and let’s close out the Escalation League in style with The Soulstone Rush Tournament!

The Tournament Format

Proxy and Painting Rules 

• Proxies are allowed for unreleased or unowned models, however, an appropriate replacement model with the correct base size must be used and you must inform your opponent about the proxy prior to the start of the game.
• There is no minimum painting requirement. 

Tournament Rules

This event will use the Gaining Grounds Season Four guidelines, with the following exceptions:

• • Crew Construction: Fixed Faction Each player will sign up with a single Faction. Dead Man’s Hand may not be chosen.
  • At the start of each round, players will hire their Crew for the Encounter up to 50 Soulstones, including Upgrades. A Master may not be hired as part of the crew, except as a Leader. Henchmen may be Leaders (so no double Masters).
  • Terrain Setup: Terrain will be placed in advance by the Tournament Organizer (TO) and must not be moved by the players. If any terrain causes a potential issue with a Strategy or Deployment, please notify the TO.
  • If there are an odd number of players, the TO will play against the player who would normally get a bye (which equates to a win).  The outcome of the game will only be used to determine differentials.
  • Each game will have a 2 hour time limit.  Once time is called, the active player may finish up their activation, but then both players must move to the final end phase to determine if any other Victory Points are scored.
  • The tournament will take place on November 17th and will have the following schedule schedule for the Soulstone Rush Tournament will be as follows:
    • 11:00am: Board Bard Games opens and a head count will be taken and matching will be determined.

• 11:15am:  Round 1 begins.

• • • 1:15pm: Lunch

• 2:15pm: Round 2 begins.

• 4:30pm Round 3 begins.

• 6:45:  Declare winners and raffle prizes.

• 7:15: Finish for the day.

Deployment, Schemes, and Strategies:

• Round 1: 
  • Deployment: Corner.
  • Strategy: Cloak and Dagger.
  • Schemes: 3) Power Ritual, 6) Outflank, 5) Deliver A Message, 11) Take Prisoner, 13) Ensnare.
• Round 2:
  • Deployment: Standard.
  • Strategy: Raid the Vaults.
  • Schemes: 1) Let Them Bleed, 2) Death Beds, 4) In Your Face, 7) Hold Up Their Forces, 13) Ensnare.
• Round 3:
  • Deployment: Flank.
  • Strategy: Stuff the Ballots.
  • Schemes: 10) Information Overload, 8) Espionage, 11) Take Prisoner, 9) Sweating Bullets, 12) Protected Territory.

Entry and Social Media

• There is an entry fee of $10.  To reserve a spot, there will be a place to pay your entry fee via Sign Up Genius on the Board Bard Games Event Calendar.
• There will be a prize pool to be raffled off to those who are present at the end of the tournament.
• The maximum number of players is 12.
• Photos will be taken and images shared on social media. If this is a potential issue for you please contact the Board Bard Games prior to the event.
